Senek Sands is a real desert. The sandy massif with a size of more than 8 kilometers is located in the Karagiye district of the Mangystau region, near the village of Senek.
The sands are located 200 km from the city of Aktau. You can get there by car, preferably an SUV.
The Senek sand dunes are known not only for their unique landscape, which can be seen from afar, but also for their free-flowing nomadic properties. Tourists specially come here even from afar to see this golden Senek sand and touch it with their hands.
It is known that a few years ago, the sands began to gradually shift and bring the village of Senek. However, attention was drawn to this problem at the government level and thanks to sandblasting, in particular, the grafting of such desert-resistant, deeply rooted plants as saxaul and zhuzgun, the threat receded.
If you want to come to Senek, then you need to drive through the city of Zhanaozen. Further, 20 kilometers from Zhanaozen, turn from the village of Kyzylsay towards the village of Senek. If you drive even further, then from afar you will see sand dunes, the height of which reaches 25-30 meters.
